Guest-Week

This past week, several cartoonists contributed guest-toons while I toiled away on professor-related activities. Rest assured I will continue to post PCW sketches in the days that follow. In the meantime, why not check 'em out.

PC Weenies #921, 922 and #923

Three more sketch diary updates: PC Weenies 921, PC Weenies 922 and PC Weenies 923. #922 was actually a revamp of PC Weenies #119, with a brand new caption.

PCW #918 and #919

PC Weenies 918 and PC Weenies 919 are now up for your viewing pleasure. Alas, I accidentally flattened the file for PC Weenies 920, so I don't have the pencil sketch handy to post up here.

A 'nudder wallpaper

I'm having fun with these and thought I'd share my latest desktop wallpaper creation. Comments? Requests? Fire away, chief!

PCW #915, 916, and #917 sketches

PC Weenies 915 and
PC Weenies 916 were relatively straight foward ideas that came to me, and were easy to put down. I struggled a great deal with
PC Weenies 917 however. As the sketch shows, initially I had placed Grampa and another unkown character into the scene. I wanted to touch on how MySpace's impact was pushing out to the senior set, but somewhere along the way, I decided to shift the focus a little. BTW, #917 represents the debut of Pam Weiner's parents. I didn't specifically plan it out that way, it occurred to me in hindsight. Expect to see more of Grampa Charlie and Nana as recurring characters in the future....

To Boldy Go....

I've made a simple wallpaper background featuring PC Weenies 915. It's a little bonus for folks that read this blog. Enjoy!

PCW #912, 913, and 914

PC Weenies 912 introduces the Obvious Bros. - two characters who we haven't seen the last of, PC Weenies 913 featured my homage to the early 80's game, Miner 2049er (starring Bounty Bob - remember him?), and finally, PC Weenies 914 features a twisted take on UPSes. I added the mouth in for the UPS in the final version.

PC Weenies 906, PC Weenies 907, and PC Weenies 908 sketches, here for your viewing pleasure. Notice the ROM, Spaceknight t-shirt wearing dude in #908. Always thought this Marvel character was pretty cool back in the day. And so it goes.... :)

PCW #901

Every now and then, I veer away from using the Weiners, as in PC Weenies #901. The recent spectre of layoffs at AOL has gotten much publicity in the tech community, and it's unfortunate so many folks have to lose their jobs. Still, I can't help but wonder if AOL would ever send their software to someone who was recently terminated from their company.

PCW #900

Arriving in sheer coincidence with the launch of the 2006 World Wide Developer's Conference, PCW #900 takes full aim at the hype surrounding the event. I originally planned to keep the 'toon 'uncensored' but rethought that idea to keep things a bit SFW*. (Safe For Work)

PCW # 899

PC Weenies #899 was inspired by an recent incident in which one of my wife's friends accidentally dropped my trusty digital camera (which has since found a lovely new home with a PCW fan).

Since that incident, I've purchased a new digital camera - a Canon A620 model - which is fantastic in every way. The moral of the story - friends don't let friends borrow their stuff if they still want to be friends.

PCW #898

Sadly, the rampant number of recent reports on overheating laptops.... er... notebooks catching on fire or otherwise scalding flesh never gets old. Once again, not willing to resist the temptation - I succumbed. The results of my attempt at humor can be condensed into PC Weenies #898.

PCW #897

PC Weenies #897 was directly inspired by a lecture I gave on Powerpoint to my students. While trolling through the MS Clip Art libraries, I came upon a hideous Christmas Tree clip art drawing which (make no mistake), a 4 year old child could easily surpass. Stunned by the rather primitive (circa 1987) graphics in the MS Clip Art library, I surmised that the person who designed said clip art must have had to REALLY work at it, to get it just right, ya know.

Anyway, here is the original sketch.
